Minister Đurić Meets with Members of the Swiss Federal Parliament
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić met today with members of the Switzerland–Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group to discuss opportunities for further advancing bilateral cooperation, the situation in the region, and other issues of mutual interest. He expressed particular satisfaction that the visit is taking place in the year marking the 110th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Noting that bilateral relations are very good and characterised by diverse and intensive cooperation across a broad range of areas — from political dialogue at the high and highest levels, through strong cooperation in the economy, financial sector and trade in services, to cooperation in the fields of justice, migration, science and advanced technologies — Đurić emphasised that regular political and economic dialogue provides a solid foundation for further strengthening cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Particular attention was devoted to the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija. Minister Đurić briefed his interlocutors on what he described as systematic violations of the rights and freedoms of Serbs in Serbia’s southern autonomous province, and thanked the parliamentarians for raising the issue and bringing it to the attention of the Swiss public and the Federal Parliament, as well as within European international organisations.
Both sides noted that the large and economically well-integrated Serbian diaspora in Switzerland can contribute to further expanding the successful cooperation between the two countries, both in the economic sphere and in other areas of mutual interest.
Expressing his gratitude for Switzerland’s confirmed participation in the Specialised Expo 2027 in Belgrade, Minister Đurić briefed his guests on the progress made in implementing the project, which will provide numerous participating countries with an opportunity to showcase their economic, tourism, technological and other achievements.
