Deputy Minister Bernice Swarts launches Arbor Month in eMafini Village, 3 Sept

The Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Ms Bernice Swarts, will lead the launch of Arbor Month 2026 on Thursday, 03 September 2026, in the Nyandeni Local Municipality, Eastern Cape Province.

Arbor Month is commemorated annually in September to promote the planting, protection and conservation of trees and to raise awareness about the importance of trees and forests in supporting sustainable livelihoods, environmental sustainability and climate resilience. The launch forms part of the department’s ongoing efforts to encourage communities, government and other stakeholders to contribute towards the greening of South Africa, protection of the country's natural resources and participation in the 10 million trees presidential campaign.
