China and the Republic of the Congo Hold Talks Between Officials in Charge of FOCAC Affairs

On July 29, 2026, Co-Chairman of the Chinese Follow-up Committee of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu held talks in Beijing with Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of the Congo and Deputy Coordinator of the Congolese Follow-up Committee for FOCAC Affairs Jean-Jacques Bouya.

Miao Deyu stated that China and the Republic of the Congo are good friends, good partners, and good brothers who have stood together through thick and thin. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Denis Sassou Nguesso, the bilateral ties have been elevated to a high-level community with a shared future, and their practical cooperation has become a model for China-Africa and Global South cooperation. Both sides should fully leverage the comprehensive empowering effect of the zero-tariff policy, and tap deep into the potential for cooperation in agriculture, health, digital economy, artificial intelligence, and green development. China and the Republic of the Congo should continue to work hand in hand to fulfill their responsibilities as co-chairs of FOCAC, strengthen communication and coordination, and accelerate the implementation of the outcomes of the 2024 Beijing Summit of FOCAC. The two sides should also organize key FOCAC meetings well, further polish the “golden hallmark” of FOCAC, and lead Global South cooperation and international cooperation with Africa.

Jean-Jacques Bouya stated that the Republic of the Congo, and President Sassou in particular, attaches great importance to developing relations with China. He expressed high appreciation for and active support of the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping. He also reaffirmed the country’s firm adherence to the one-China principle. The Republic of the Congo acknowledges China’s active support for the country’s economic and social development and welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in the country. The Republic of the Congo stands ready to work with China to consolidate political mutual trust and fully leverage the important opportunity of China’s zero-tariff measure for all African countries with which it has diplomatic relations, so as to deepen practical cooperation in various fields. The Republic of the Congo is willing to work with China to effectively implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of FOCAC, jointly organize key relevant meetings, and contribute to building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.
