Putin Says War on Iran Made Supply Chain Security Critical

(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has made the security of supply chains a critical factor in global transportation.

Speaking via video link at the 1st International Transport and Logistics Forum, Putin noted that the war involving the US, Israel, and Iran has shifted priorities for countries and companies. “Events in Iran directly impact the transportation of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz. More and more countries and companies are considering not only the cost and speed of transportation, but decisive factors are becoming security,” he said.

He added that sustainability and resilience of transport routes and logistics chains are increasingly important, particularly their ability to withstand military conflicts, crises, and other external risks.

The forum, held in St. Petersburg, brings together 73 high-level guests from 50 countries and 13 organizations, featuring about 50 events discussing the development of transport in Russia and Eurasia.
