Putin Imposes Ban on Gold Bar Exports Over 100g
"As of May 1, 2026, a ban is hereby imposed on the export from the Russian Federation of refined gold in bars with a total weight of more than 100 grams by individuals, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs," the document said.
The restrictions, however, are not absolute. Limited exemptions have been carved out, permitting the export of qualifying refined gold bars through air border checkpoints at designated international airports — provided the necessary official permits have been secured in advance.
The decree marks a significant tightening of Russia's control over one of its most strategically valuable commodities, as Moscow continues to navigate sweeping Western sanctions targeting its financial and commodity sectors.
