Erdogan Holds Talks with US, Gulf, European Leaders Over Iran Tensions
Erdogan spoke with US President Donald Trump to discuss developments in Iran and the broader Gulf region. In a separate call with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, he extended well-wishes following attacks affecting Qatar and received updates on the local situation.
The Turkish president also offered condolences to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman regarding attacks on their countries, using the calls to address the regional situation. In his discussion with the Saudi Crown Prince, Erdogan warned that without timely intervention, the conflict could have serious regional and global security consequences. He emphasized that Türkiye and Saudi Arabia have made significant efforts to resolve disputes through dialogue, and that prioritizing diplomacy remains the most rational path.
Erdogan additionally spoke with Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, expressing sympathy and conveying well-wishes following attacks in Kuwait.
During a call with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the Turkish leader reviewed the attacks on Iran and subsequent escalation, reiterating Ankara’s call for all parties to return to diplomatic negotiations and its readiness to support peace efforts.
