Erdogan Calls Kuwaiti Emir, Expresses Concern Over Attacks on Kuwait

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan speaks by phone on Sunday with Kuwaiti Emir Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to convey his concern over recent attacks affecting Kuwait, according to statements cited by reports from Türkiye's Directorate of Communications.

During the conversation, Erdogan expresses his sympathies and emphasizes that diplomacy and negotiations remain the most rational means to resolve conflicts. He also assures that Türkiye will continue working to swiftly restore a peaceful environment in the region.

The dialogue occurs in the wake of a US and Israeli strike on Iran on Saturday, which resulted in the deaths of multiple senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Tehran conducts drone and missile attacks targeting several Gulf nations.

The exchange also recalls a similar US-Israeli offensive on Iran last June, which escalated into a 12-day conflict before concluding with a ceasefire.
