Biden’s Cancer Treatment Progress Draws Optimism, Concern
Biden was diagnosed in May 2025 with Stage 4 prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. His aides say he continues to manage the disease through ongoing therapy and remains engaged with projects such as his memoir, plans for his foundation, and his presidential library. A few public appearances are reportedly being planned.
Despite this, several associates, including former officials and Democratic allies, have observed that Biden appears more fatigued in recent weeks. His office has not issued major health updates since last May, when it was disclosed that he was receiving hormone therapy for a hormone-sensitive form of prostate cancer, prompting some concern over the long-term effects of both the illness and its treatment.
Since the diagnosis, Biden has made only a limited number of appearances, mostly at family events, ceremonial functions, and private outings.
