Netanyahu Links Troop Losses to Policy from Biden Era
At a Tuesday press briefing, Netanyahu said Israel endured “very heavy prices” following the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023. He maintained that, beyond the usual human cost of warfare, “at a certain stage we didn’t have enough ammunition.” The prime minister suggested that these shortages intensified the battlefield toll.
Without directly naming Biden, Netanyahu remarked that “heroes fell” because they were deprived of essential supplies, adding that “part of that absent ammunition was because of the embargo.” He argued that the episode strengthened his resolve to expand Israel’s homegrown defense sector, aiming for “maximal independence” so the country does not “run out of weapons or ammunition.”
Amos Hochstein, a senior Biden adviser, dismissed the allegation in remarks to a media outlet, saying Netanyahu was “both not telling the truth and ungrateful to a president that literally saved Israel at its most vulnerable moment.” Hochstein highlighted more than $20 billion in US military aid and additional assistance, concluding that the only fitting reply from Israel should have been “thank you.”
