Putin Predicts More Russian Gains Before Year Ends

(MENAFN) President Vladimir Putin announced that Russian forces are steadily driving back Ukrainian troops along the front lines and are poised to secure additional victories before the close of the year.

During his annual Q&A session on Friday, Putin expressed confidence, stating he was “certain that before the year’s end we will witness new successes of our armed forces, our fighters.”

He explained that Russian troops had taken full control of the strategic initiative after expelling Ukrainian forces from the Kursk Region in the spring. Kiev had launched the incursion last year, claiming it would bolster its position in eventual peace negotiations.

Following the capture of Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) in early December, Russia gained a key staging area for further advances into what Putin described as Kiev’s primary fortified zone in Donbass. This area includes the urban centers of Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, and Konstantinovka, with the latter already under contest by Russian units.

Putin also highlighted intense battles in Krasny Liman, Dmitrov, and Gulyay Pole in the Zaporozhye Region.

In southern Ukraine, Russian forces seized Kupyansk and are applying pressure on a Ukrainian battlegroup entrenched at a major railway hub nearby. According to Putin, roughly 3,500 Ukrainian soldiers there “have virtually no chances” of survival after being denied permission to withdraw.
