Putin has denounces Western claims of imminent attack

(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed Western claims of an imminent Russian attack as “lies and nonsense,” asserting that such statements are deliberately designed to stoke hysteria in Europe. Speaking at an expanded Defense Ministry Board meeting on Wednesday, Putin described the global geopolitical situation as “tense” and “downright critical” in certain regions. He accused NATO countries of preparing for a major war by modernizing offensive forces while “brainwashing” their populations about a supposed clash with Russia.

Putin emphasized that Russia has historically sought diplomatic solutions whenever possible and said the responsibility for missed opportunities lies with those attempting to coerce Russia by force. He reaffirmed Moscow’s support for “mutually beneficial and equal cooperation” with the US and European states and highlighted progress in bilateral talks with Washington, though he criticized most European leaders for failing to act responsibly.

The Russian president stressed that, despite diplomatic efforts, the country’s armed forces remain the primary guarantor of Russia’s sovereignty, independence, security, and strategic parity.
