Zelensky, Putin Mutually Hate Each Other
These remarks came following a prominent gathering at the White House on Friday.
“Putin hates me,” Zelensky declared to reporters in Washington, DC.
When questioned by a journalist, “Do you hate him?” he responded that it would be unusual to feel differently about someone who “try to kill all of us.”
“I have the same attitude (towards) this man,” Zelensky added, emphasizing his stance.
The Ukrainian leader also supported former President Trump’s appeals for an immediate ceasefire along the existing battle lines.
He chose not to disclose whether the United States would provide Kiev with long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles but implied that no advancements had been made on that issue yet. “We have to work on it more,” he noted.
Putin has expressed willingness to meet with Zelensky but insisted such a meeting would only occur in the final phase of discussions once a peace agreement is prepared for signing.
Furthermore, Putin questioned Zelensky’s legitimacy by pointing out that his current five-year presidential term ends in 2024 and criticized him for refusing to call new elections, citing martial law as the reason.
